CULTIVATE AND EMBRACE MAAT AS YOUR NATURAL AFRIKAN WAY OF LIFE.
Saturday, August 3, 2024
12:00 noon to 6:00 PM EST
SUMMIT FIELD SOUTH, South Mountain Reservation, NJ
The significance of the Opening of the Year to our Ancestors meant that they received enough bounty from the land and the cosmos to survive all of the challenges that they faced in the previous year. This was a time of great celebration and joy, the knowledge that they had the tenacity to endure and overcome the darkness.
The inundation of the Hapi was both a literal and figurative representation of the abundance that they would receive in the year to come as reciprocity for creating and contributing to a world of justice, harmony, balance, and divine right order. It is a reminder that living right will always result in a life that is fulfilling, satisfying, and complete. Dua NTR!
Join us to experience the power of the Ancestors with our traditional Opening of the Way and Libation ceremonies, and participate in a beautiful Ancestral celebration which honors and uplifts the Ntrw Ausar, Heru-Ur, Setesh, Auset, and Nebt-Het.
This will be an opportunity to make offerings to the Divine Forces that guide and support our ability to Ankh m Maat (live in divine harmony) while expressing gratitude for the incredible blessings from the previous year and setting the tone for the year to come!
All attendees are asked to wear white.
Children are always welcome.
All attendees are also invited to join us the next day at Suite 11Eleven in Plainfield, NJ for our regularly scheduled Kemmunion.
Offerings for the CeRemony
During the ceremony, you will have an opportunity to approach the altars of the five Ntrw and give offerings to express gratitude. What is most important is thoughtfulness and sincerity in the energy we exchange with NTR, for in the spirit of Maat (reciprocity), we expect to get what we give. Go into meditation and reflect upon how you have been blessed in the past year, what progress you have made, and what items indicate a sincere and deep sense of gratitude to the Ntr/t that you are approaching.
Items do not need to be purchased new. For example, if you have a piece of copper or brass jewelry that has served you well, you may give it as an offering in gratitude for the growth you've experienced in your spiritual journey. Offerings such as these are made available to the community after the ritual is complete, and in this way the Ntrw act in and through us. We release something that we no longer need and bless others with something that can empower their walk.
Ideas to spark inspiration:
fruit
flowers
crystals
money
books
essential and fragrance oils
salt baths, sage, incense, palo santo, and other items for spiritual purification
handwritten prayers and homemade cards; unlike other offerings, these will not be made available to the community and will be kept private - we will not read them or keep them.
Offerings are meant to be personal and heartfelt; do your best to investigate your heart and ask the Ntr/t what S/He would like to receive from you.
The best offering is YOU, so in addition to bringing an offering for each of the five Ntrw, come prepared to chant, dance, and worship until the Ntrw are satisfied.
